QR Code Quality Assurance & Compatibility

At KMC Merch, we are committed to delivering QR products that are both visually appealing and functionally reliable. Unlike simply printing a customer-provided QR image, we verify, optimize, and test every QR code before shipment to help ensure accurate functionality and the best possible scanning performance for 3D-printed products.

Please read the following information regarding our QR production process and compatibility.

1. QR Code Verification Before Shipment

Every QR product undergoes a quality verification process before it is packaged and shipped.

As part of this process, we scan every finished QR code to confirm that it directs to the correct destination or contains the correct information. This verification also allows us to match each completed product with the correct customer order, helping prevent order mix-ups during fulfillment.

Because every QR code is individually tested before shipment, we are confident that it is functional when it leaves our workshop.

2. QR Code Optimization for 3D Printing

To achieve the best print quality and scanning performance, we do not simply reproduce the QR code image exactly as received.

Instead, we:

  • Decode the original QR code provided by the customer.
  • Verify that the encoded information is valid and complete.
  • Regenerate the QR code in a format optimized for 3D printing.
  • Make technical adjustments when necessary to improve printability and scanning reliability while preserving the exact encoded information.

This process ensures that the finished product is suitable for 3D printing without changing the destination or content of the QR code.

Please note that the finished QR code may not appear pixel-for-pixel identical to the image originally submitted. This is a normal part of our optimization process and does not affect its intended function.

3. Dense or Complex QR Codes

Some QR codes contain a very high number of modules (the small square cells that make up a QR code). Extremely dense QR codes may become too small to reproduce accurately on certain product sizes using 3D printing.

If a QR code cannot be produced reliably at the selected size, we may:

  • Recommend a larger product size;
  • Suggest a design adjustment; or
  • Contact you before production to discuss the best available option.

Our goal is to produce a QR code that is both aesthetically pleasing and consistently scannable.

4. Quality Control Process

Every QR product undergoes the following quality checks before shipment:

  • Content Verification – We confirm that the QR code contains the correct information or destination.
  • 3D Print Inspection – We inspect the finished product for print quality and overall workmanship.
  • Scan Verification – We scan the completed QR code using compatible devices to verify that it functions correctly.
  • Order Verification – We confirm that the finished product is matched with the correct customer's order before packaging.

5. QR Code Compatibility

Although every QR code is tested before shipment, scanning performance may vary depending on the device, application, and environment in which it is used.

If you experience difficulty scanning your QR code, please check the following before requesting assistance:

  • Avoid strong reflections or glare on the QR code surface.
  • Ensure there is adequate lighting without direct reflections.
  • Clean your device's camera lens.
  • Try scanning from different distances or angles.
  • Use a device with a camera capable of focusing clearly on the QR code.

Different QR codes also require the appropriate scanning application.

For example:

  • Payment QR Codes (GCash, Maya, QR Ph, BPI, BDO, and similar services) should be scanned using the corresponding banking or e-wallet application.
  • Website, Wi-Fi, Contact, Menu, and Social Media QR Codes can typically be scanned using your smartphone's built-in camera or any compatible QR scanner.

Please note that some older smartphones, entry-level devices, or applications with limited QR recognition capabilities may experience difficulty scanning highly detailed QR codes.

6. Customer-Provided QR Codes

When customers provide their own QR code image or file, KMC Merch reproduces the encoded information contained within that QR code.

We are not responsible for errors already present in the customer-provided QR code, including but not limited to:

  • Incorrect website links
  • Invalid payment accounts
  • Typographical errors
  • Expired or inaccessible destinations

If requested, we can verify that the submitted QR code is readable before production begins.

7. Changes After Production

KMC Merch guarantees that the QR code functions correctly at the time of production and shipment.

However, we cannot be held responsible if the destination linked to the QR code is later modified, deleted, disabled, or becomes unavailable after the product has been completed.

Examples include:

  • Deleted Facebook Pages
  • Changed social media usernames
  • Removed Google Drive or cloud storage links
  • Expired websites or domains
  • Closed or updated payment accounts

8. If Your QR Code Does Not Scan

If you experience difficulty scanning your QR code after following the recommendations above, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order.

To help us investigate the issue promptly, please provide:

  • Your order number
  • Clear photos of the product
  • A short video showing the scanning attempt
  • The phone model used for scanning
  • The application used (Camera, GCash, Maya, BPI, etc.)

We will carefully review your concern and, if our investigation determines that the issue resulted from our production process, we will provide an appropriate resolution in accordance with our Return & Refund Policy.
